“Imagina FESTAD’AFRICA FESTIVAL”

1. GOALS The competition aims at promoting contemporary international arts. The winning image will be used as the official image of the 12th edition of FESTAD’AFRICAFESTIVAL, and it will be used in the advertising and promotion material for all the events within this edition of the Festival. The winner will receive a prize of €500. Also, an exhibition featuring the 20 best images will be organized. The event will be held in Rome for the whole duration of FESTAD’AFRICAFESTIVAL 2014.
2. CONDITIONS The competition is open to all artists of both genders, to professionals, amateurs, Italian and international students, regardless of the age, qualification and curriculum. We encourage talented artists of any level to participate.
All the submitted images will be published online at www.festadafricafestival.com with a presentation of the author and a description of the artwork.By entering, each entrant warrants and represents the following with respect to their images:
(a) entrant is the sole and exclusive owner of the image;
(b) the image is entrant’s own creation and is 100% original; and
(c) publication of the image will not infringe on any rights of any third parties.
Every candidate is allowed to submit one or more entries. There is an entry fee for each image submitted (See Point 5).
Execution techniques
Oil on canvas, acrylic, ink, vinyl, watercolors, lead pencil, pastel, illustration, prints, digital and analog photography, computer graphic, net/web art and 2D software art.
Support material: digital or paper.
The images must have a maximum resolution of 300 dpi and must be vertical and cannot be smaller than 2500 pixel.
3. PRIZES The central theme of the competition is the cultural exchange between Italy and Africa.
Key words are: DANCE, COLOR, MENTOR-DISCIPLE RELATIONSHIP, MUSIC, AFRICA and MOVEMENT
Images will be chosen on the following equally weighted judging criteria: quality, innovation and style.
The overall winner will receive a plaque and will be awarded a prize of € 500.00.
The judging committee will select 21 images from all the entries. Among these, the winner will be awarded based on the results of online voting.
The remaining 20 images will be exposed with the name of the author and a description BUT WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY MONEY PRIZE.
4. SELECTIONS AND WINNERS The judges
Copyrights of all Photos remains the property of the entrant at all times.
FESTAD’AFRICA FESTIVAL owns the rights of the images only to use them within the IMAGINE FESTAD’AFRICA FESTIVAL contest and in the festival associated with the contest.
5. HOW TO PARTICIPATE The contest ends September 30, 2014, 8pm, Italian time. After the deadline, it will no longer be possible to pay the entry fee. Images can be submitted 7 days after this deadline.

Entry fee: 10 € for the first entry, 5€ for any other image submitted after the first. Entry fees are not reimbursable.
(B) Postal mail entry
Entry fee: 10€ for the first entry, 5€ for second and more. Entry fees are not reimbursable.
Subscriptions through postal mail can be sent through registered mail. Submissions with postmarks older than September 30, 2014 will not be accepted.

Material to submit:
1. A copy of the registration form printed, filled and signed.
2. A CD containing the CV of the artist, a brief biography and a brief description of the image.
3. A CD/DVD with the image and/or the video.
For online submission, images must be in jpg or png format, and should be at least 2500 pixel on the longest side. For the submission via postal mail, images can be in jpg or png, dimensions must be at least 21x29 cm at 300 dpi.
6. CALENDAR
a) Last day to sign for the competition: September 30, 2014, 8 pm Italian time
b) October 5, 2014, online announcement of the 21 finalists
c) October 30, 2014, online announcement of the winner
d) November 28, 2014, Award ceremony and exhibition of the finalists
7. COPYRIGHT
1. By entering the competition, artists accept all the terms and conditions of the competition
2. Entrants retain the copyright to images submitted but they grant FESTAD’AFRICAFESTIVAL the license to use the images for any purpose within the competition and the festival. This may include, but is not limited to: display at exhibitions and on a web, and in particular on the FESTAD’AFRICAFESTIVAL website, for use in releases to be distributed to national, regional and specialist press and other media. Entrants agree their entries to take part in post competition publicity.
3. The photographic material, the CD/DVD, the CV and all the other material submitted will not be returned but will be remain in the FESTAD’AFRICAFESTIVAL archives.
4. Entrants are completely responsible for the content of the material sent. FESTAD’AFRICA FESTIVAL may reject any image that contains material that is libelous or unnecessarily obscene. The images submitted will remain available online and will not be removed.
5. We are a data controller of any personal data that you provide to us in connection with the photo contest and we will comply with our responsibilities under applicable data protection laws. Any controversy will be treated according to the Italian laws.
6. FESTAD’AFRICA FESTIVAL reserves the right to make variations to the competition terms and conditions if necessary.
